Laser Mole Removal Cost

Mole laser removal is just one among many treatment choices you have got when you have decided to get rid of a mole. Before you opt for this method, you owe it to yourself to arm yourself with basic information about what moles are, when they ought to be removed, and what your other options are.

Moles are usually not a threat to your health. They are simply dark spots of pigment that can appear anywhere on your body.

Generally, moles come in two types. First, the moles you may have been born with are rarely any trouble to your well being. They tend to remain the same shape, size and color for the whole of your life. Quite likely you have got several of these already.

Second, moles which appear later in life may appear gradually, and then go on to change shape, color or form. These have to be watched, as they may be the signal that something more serious is afoot.

Moles may be the precursor to skin cancer in some cases. If you are quite fair skinned and live or work in a very bright, sunlit environment, you should regularly check your body for any marks suddenly appearing.

All that said, most of us do not have to worry about our moles. They are naturally occurring events, and do not pose a risk.

So, given that the choice to remove a mole is largely a cosmetic one, which method should you choose?

The three main choices are laser treatment, cryotherapy and surgery. Each has its advantages and drawbacks, so let's look at each in turn.

Laser treatment is the use of a small, hand held laser to literally burn the mole off. It may be a relatively brief procedure or may be longer, depending on the size and depth of your mole.

Remember, a mole is not a growth on your skin, it is part of your skin, a small localized accretion of pigment. Getting rid of it with laser may require repeat treatments, and may entail the removal of a small but significant amount of tissue.

Cryotherapy literally freezes the mole off. Your specialist uses liquid nitrogen to freeze the mole and a small portion of tissue surrounding it. The dead, frozen mole is then removed by lancing it.

Finally, surgical excision is the most radical method. This will incur the greatest cost and time commitment, and you will resort to this only in those cases where you have a very large or noticeable mole and are anxious to be rid of it. Remember that this is a cosmetic, elective procedure, so before you dive into surgery, talk to your insurer as to whether you are covered, and consider options which might be cheaper but give the same result.

Laser treatment recommends itself for smaller, less deep moles. As I said above, you are looking at repeat procedures if your mole is quite deep.

Moreover, laser therapy does have some pain associated with it. The pain has been described as akin to an elastic band being snapped against the skin. It may be quite uncomfortable, depending on where your mole is and your level of pain tolerance. Talk to your specialist about local anesthesia to make the experience as comfortable as possible.

Finally, laser treatment is not necessarily cheap. While it has a good reputation for being a very clean, relatively scar-free solution to mole removal, it may cost you, particularly if you need repeat treatments.

How much would a skin mole removal cost?
My daughter has been begging me for years to get her mole removed (small, slightly raised. under the nose and above upper lip.) Shes 13 and i finally agreed. How much would it cost to get a small slightly raised mole removed? Is she old enough? Oh and most importantly what are the health cons from the laser removal, is it really bad for her health...(side effects)

    • ANSWER:
I've had a few moles removed before and it's never hurt. The local anesthesia stings/pinches slightly (like most injections) but not unbearably or to the point of tears and it's only for a second. Not sure about having that done in the face, though. But once that's done, the removal itself is done within seconds, before you even realize they've started.

None of mine were laser though.

I do have scars on all 3 but they look much better than the moles did.
      Most people don't notice.

I don't regret it at all and I'm actually having a couple more done.

I have a 12-year-old and it's so quick and simple that I'd have no hesitation letting her get it done.

Oh and mine were covered by insurance because they wanted to make sure the moles weren't cancerous. The other two I'm having done will be cosmetic though so I'll have to pay for them.

Hope I was able to help a little!

How much does mole removal cost for a mole the size of a pencil eraser?
And anyone know what type of procedure is used for removing larger moles? Laser or scapel?

    • ANSWER:
the cost is determined by the office removing it. Usually they will charge for an office visit plus charge for the procedure. If they submit it to a pathology lab (and that is routine) you will receive a bill for that as well. Check with the office of your choice.

Other possibility is to go to the County Health Department in your area and see if they can take care of it.

  9. QUESTION:
Skin Mole removal. How much would it cost to have1-3 moles laser removed if u don't have insurance and pay cash?

    • ANSWER:
Dermatologist's charge different rates anywhere from -0 or more per mole that is to be removed. I don't know about you but that seems expensive to me.

That is why when I wanted to remove my moles, I ended up buying a product called Dermatend. This is a natural mole removal product, that uses only natural ingredients and comes with a 100% guarantee.

I have removed a total of 6 moles with Dermatend, 1 of them being on my face, all the moles I have removed have been without scarring. After the moles were gone I just applied a healing ointment I had at the house.

I know that when a dermatologist removes a mole, most of the time they use a scalpel which does leave a scar.

      I ordered Dermatend from http://www.skinmole-removal.com

  10. QUESTION:
How much would removing flat moles off my face cost using laser-removal?
I have quite a few and they affect my confidants, I live in Canada and i would like to know a average fee of the procedure.

I know its a cosmetic procedure but could i possibly be coverd if it affects my well being?

    Thanks in advance

    • ANSWER:
aha so funny i came across this question. i literally had this done with a CO2 laser yesterday morning at the doctors (it was a flat mole on my face). it costed me exactly 0 and i don't think insurance covers it most of the time since laser removal is mostly for cosmetic reasons. if you tell them that you are scared that it could be cancerous, you can most likely get insurance to cover freezing the mole or cutting it out but i'm not so sure about laser surgery. i live in washington state. good luck to you.

  11. QUESTION:
When getting laser mole removal does one visit remove all of moles at once?
Also does hair grow there? any tips on prevents hair foccile damage.
    does it scar?
i have billions of moles will they be removed in one session that costs £400+ or is it free for someone under 16-

    • ANSWER:
I personally had 20 moles removed all at once by laser. It has been 5 weeks and I still have bruising in the area but it looks fantastic. You can have as many moles removed by laser as you want BUT you are going to have to take special care of the area after surgery. So you probably better off doing one area at a time. Many derms recommend against using laser because the moles could be cancerous and if it does not remove all the cells, you could have cancerous cells and not know it. Personally, I'd get one tested at least. As per price, depends on where you get it. For me, I paid per mole in India.

  14. QUESTION:
    laser mole removal?
how much will it cost and how many treatments are required to remove a small raised mole?

    • ANSWER:
First off, I'm not a Dr. so please seek the advice of one before you choose to do anything.

I had a mole removed a few months ago and it looks a lot better now. First, I had him shave the mole flat and let it heal. Second, I went back and he lasered the mole with an Alexandrite Laser that took most of the pigment away. It took 2 treatments and a total cost of 0.

Was it worth it? Yes it was.

  15. QUESTION:
    Mole Removal [HELP]?
i am 14 years old and have a mole on my cheek that isnt too large, a mole on my back, a mole on my armpit that is very small as well, and a few moles on my neck that are also small.

im looking into laser mole removal, how much would this cost, does my age matter, and does it scar?

    thanks

    • ANSWER:
If you speak to your doctor, you may find that this is expensive; but then again, it might not be.

I believe that there is other ways to do this. This is best done by a doctor because otherwise, you will bleed heavily and may get an infection.

It is critical for safety reason to always have moles checked out because they have been linked to cancer.

    Laser Surgery for Mole Removal?
So I have a flat mole on the top of my head that is concealed by my hair. Unfortunately, I am a guy and am sick of having long hair and wish to cut it, but I am self-conscious about doing so because of this flat mole I have.

So, I am considering having Laser Surgery done. I have a couple of questions concerning the issue.

First, is there scarring? I have been reading up on it and it seems most of the time there is never scarring as long as you don't pick at the scab. Is there anything that will help heal it even better without scars?

I only need one removed, so will this cost in the 50-100 dollar range?

What are typical results and healing time?

    Thanks a lot!
Thanks for the 3-day website, but to be honest, I don't really trust things such as that. I would prefer to get it done by a professional.

    So heres my problem

u might think its okay...but their ALL OVER MY FACE
and i think its starting to scare people...and i think their GROWING!!
    sorry if tat disturbed u~~~
but yea.....ive saved up more than 500 bucks for laser mole removal and researched on some clinics
but im only 14 and my parents cant noe abt this, if i just walk into the clinic will they jus do it for me??or do i need some parental thing....
also how much does it cost?? ive done my research but im not 2 sure, do they charge per mole and per size???

    • ANSWER:
At 14, you're considered too young to give 'informed consent' for a medical procedure.
If they are in fact growing, there would be a medical reason to remove them. Your parents would most likely consent to it.
However, it sounds like you're dealing with freckles. Info on these can be found on the site below.

  20. QUESTION:
Does mole removal creams and lotions at pharmacies work?
I want to get this annoying small mole off my face, but im scared do it by surgery or laser and it cost way to much just to remove one mole. I wanted to go to a place like Walgreen's or CVS. Can someone who knows or who has used it tell me if it is safe and tell me how long it would take to work.

    Thank You

    • ANSWER:
No, half of the products in stores do more damage than repair.
i would advise u to seek a dermatologist opinion, they can tell u, which product to use and that is safe to ur type of skin. they would do a series of test to ur skin to see what is best for u. and is way cheaper, than surgery or laser, and is a lot safer........

    • ANSWER:
Well I don't know about laser but I do know that there's this cream that it actually freezes your mole then it'll fall on its own. About the freckles I haven't heard yet. I'll email you the cream name once I get it off my cousin's.

    • ANSWER:
Laser treatment is very expensive. There are other much cheaper ways of removing acne scars and other skin imperfections that are very effective. I suggest you try dermarolling. Many people have had great results removing their acne scars using dermarolling. You can buy a good dermaroller for around . I recommend using the dermaroller in combination with Retin A cream (which is known to increase collagen production and repair scarred tissue) to achieve maximal results.

  23. QUESTION:
Question about laser removal of freckles & moles?
want to remove the 5 moles that are on my back and 10 freckles on my arms and legs that appear smeared. Will this hurt and how much will it cost?

    • ANSWER:
The cost depends on how large they are. I had a small spot removed on my nose with a laser and it cost 0, but it was very small and only took one session. It actually did not hurt like I was expecting. They said it would feel like a rubber band snap, but it didn't even hurt that much. I would say it's not comfortable, but it doesn't hurt.

  25. QUESTION:
I want to removal a freckle-mole "thing" from my face, please don't ask me why I want to get rid of them.
I have 2 one below my left eye and one on my neck, they aren't too far "out there", but it would be nice to get rid of them. I've read natural ways to remove, I'll try those, like milkweed and such. I have heard of laser, but that has scarring sometimes, and I'm not sure of the costs. SO if anybody has any info, please answer thanks.

    • ANSWER:
First of all you need to determine if its color is red or blue and does it irriate you. If the answer is yes, then you need to see a dermatologist ASAP. Otherwise, there are a number of ways to remove it. The most cost effective depends on the size and is liquid nitrogen. A dermatologist applies a numbing agent, then applies the nitro directly to your skin, it burns, the area turns black after 2 days then within a week it peels off. You need sunblock on that area. The 2nd is more costly and is for usually a larger area, RejuveLux. It is phototherapy from a dermatologist basically pulsateing lights. It's used on sunspots, rosacea, pigmated skin. Laser is for more intense scars, tattoos and especially wrinkles.

  26. QUESTION:
    Mole Removal....................?
Hi. i have two flat moles that are fairly small on my cheek that i would like removed. so...
    1) how much would it cost?
    2) i'm 14, am i too young?will they allow me to do it?
    3) does it hurt?
    4) is it using laser?

    thanks :)
5)how long dies it take to heal?

    • ANSWER:
Only go to a certified dermatologist since the moles are on your face. Don't be cheap with it. It will cost you about 2-300 dollars. They can use chemical peel or laser to remove the moles. The treatment will not hurt and you are not too young to have the procedure. Remember, don't just go to some guys to remove them. If they make mistake, it will scar your face and there is no way to remove the scar (not even with dermatologist).

  27. QUESTION:
Please help me! What should I do? 10 points best answer!?
So I have 2 raised dark brown almost black moles on my face. I think they might be cancerous but I've never really had them tested. They've grown over the past years and they've become darker too. My mom wants me to get them removed by laser, but I don't think that's very safe on cancerous moles. I told her that they could be cancerous but she thinks that there's no such thing as a cancerous mole. I told her that it would be better and safer if I go to a dermatologist, where they numb it and cut it out then stitch the area (how much would that cost btw). But my mom thinks that laser mole removal is the only way to remove moles in the world! But I told her its not but she just won't listen to me. I wanna get them removed before school starts which is in about 3 weeks, but if I ask her to do it another way she'll tell me to do it during winter break which is in 4 months and I can't wait that long, and she won't believe me when I tell her that laser is not the only way! Please help, what should I do? And is it safe to remove a possible cancerous mole by laser? Just asking.

  29. QUESTION:
    Am i crazy???????????
ok, i'm 14 this year and i think i'm crazy.

    1) i keep feeling sorry for myself. my friends always leave me to do everything in every single project. they don't even thank me, sometimes they call me a show off or say stop boasting or scold me when i complain to them. there was once when i wrote the the entire script and made the main prop, which required one week of work. it was supposed to hold like 40 kg, made out of balsa wood. when it broke after holding only 5kg, my friends were kind of angry. then when i was at the swing being really sad, they scolded me and said "it's not like the whole world died right?" there were so many others. like this one. i had a geog animation project, i did the whole thing... i went to school like 4 times during the sch. hols just to cmpletete it. when i asked my fren to follow me, she complained and said it's not fair if only she goes, only if i call the whole group there then she would go. and as "leader" of most projects, i always call them and remind them of stuff, and then there was this girl that shouted in the phone "stop calling me, or i won't do anything!" then there was once i was the choregrapher of something... then i coudn't assign anyone working roles cos there was no time. then i asked a girl...who was going to act as a tree to help me cut some paper for her tree costume. and she said "hello? i'm a tree already, i don't see why i should help you."
seems like i talked to much on this...

    2) i talk to myself sometimes in the room when no one else is around a lot. and sometimes start singing songs. i don't even know what i'm singing. the words just come out of no where. but they always seem to rhyme and make sense and are always sad.

    3) i sometimes get crushes older guys. then there was once my fren set me up with this hot guy, he said he liked his crush better. then someone who i had a crush on turned gay. and the only time i was in a real relationship, i didn't work out because that guy was a freak, he lied about something so bad and i thought it was real, so i cried. then he told me it was all a lie. so i dumped him on the spot. i'm always wishing there would be a guy that really cares for me to come out.

    4) i like to stay in my room. by myself. my uncle thinks i'm an introvert, but in school i'm a different person. my classmates think i'm fun and easy to get along with. so i'm like two different people.

    5) i sometimes look in the mirror and talk to myself.

    6) sometimes i want to stay in school and dread going home. but i have no family problems...my parents and brother all get along very well....

    7) i always try to impress people around me, wether younger or older.

ok....so do you think i'm crazy? i have normal friends, normal life in school, but different at home. please help! and i have one more question below you can answer it if you want.

i have two flat moles i want removed... has anyone done laser mole removal in singapore, skin centre? if so, how much would it cost, am i too young, will they laugh at me? thanks! :)
sometimes i feel like crying for no reason too.

    • ANSWER:
No, you're not crazy. You just give a crap about doing well in life and it's not easy. Remember, if doing the right thing was easy, everyone would do it. You're also VERY stressed out....No 14 year old should be stressed out! You need to talk with someone who turly cares like a parent, guidance counselor or how about a teacher who you have a good relationship with?

Keep your head up little one....it will get better I promise....

  30. QUESTION:
    Cosmetic Surgery Info/Advice/Help?
To put a long story as short as possible...

I have this birthmark, or in other words a mole, which my doctor recommends me to get rid of. Now some moles can be cancerous, however, luckily, mine isn't [yet]. I've had this mole since I was born, so it's not a matter of if I'm sick of it or not. I just happen to be afraid of needles and stuff and prefer a very painless method of mole removal if necessary. When I mentioned painless to my doctor, she told me to get "laser mole removal". I guess I am looking for anything out there right about now. I want to know exactly what methods are out there, how each one works, can you feel it, what is the average cost, etc. I greatly appreciate any information anyone can provide. I personally want some primary opinions too, not propaganda stuff. So if you happen to know anything...maybe you've removed a birthmark or two yourself, or you're a cosmetic surgeon (who knows?), anything and everything is greatly appreciated =]
Oh... and I prefer if websites were not sent to me, because I'm sure I have seen it before (although still appreciated). But if you think it's REALLY helpful, then why not?

  31. QUESTION:
How do I remove moles/freckles from my face?
Would I go to a dermatologist for laser removal?
If so, how much would it cost?
If not, where should I go for the treatment?

    • ANSWER:
Insurance should cover mole removal, since they are linked to skin cancer. I had a couple moles removed and they were covered. Freckle removal would not be covered. I recommend a cosmetic surgeon over a dermatologist for laser treatment. They have better training and you will have a reduced risk of scarring. The cost is about 0.

  32. QUESTION:
Dermatological Laser procedure Asian Hospital Alabang or Makati Med.?
How much would it cost to have a Mole and Acne scar removal in Asian Hospital Alabang and Makati Med.?

    • ANSWER:
Cosmetic dermatological procedures can be done in any clinic by any qualified doctor. Mole or scar removal is a fairly common procedure and doesn't even involve hospital stay. Necessarily, the cost is higher in premier institutions like Makati Med or Asian Hospital. If I were you, I'd inquire directly with several doctors/dermatologists to find out the cost and other incidentals. No matter how simple a procedure is, it's always best to discuss things with a doctor first.

  33. QUESTION:
How do I see a dermatologist (U.K.) regarding cosmetic concerns?
I'd like to see a dermatologist to ask his or her opinion on cosmetic procedures like the ones offered by laser clinics etc, so how do I do this?
I've heard that you need to go through your GP first, but can I ask my GP to refer me to a dermatologist for cosmetic reasons, rather than medical?

I also don't know whether to tell them about my mental health, as I suffer from depression and social anxiety, and I have heard that cosmetic practitioners do not like operating on people with 'unstable mental health', for obvious reasons, though I myself am quite realistic on the limitations of cosmetic procedures.
However, because I have very little money and want the procedure done as soon as possible - I go to uni in October - would it be better to tell my GP the reason I want the procedure? I have heard that - on an unrelated field - that mole removal can be done cosmetically at no cost on the NHS if the patient is self-conscious about it and the scarring that could be left by a basic excision (how it is done on the NHS...). Would this be similar for cosmetic laser surgery do you think?

Any advice greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.
    To Hannah:

I'm not looking for mole removal, it was just an example of the difference between 'medical' ie: necessary for your physical health, and 'cosmetic' ie: preferable for your image/self-esteem.

Basically I have serious dark circles beneath my eyes and horrible skin in general really. I know that dark circles are difficult to treat and probably impossible to remove completely, so I am looking for treatments that can improve them and the surrounding skin too. And yes, it is severely affecting my confidence and social life.

Do you know how long it would take to see a dermatologist after referral, and how long to get treatment after seeing the dermatologist? I go to uni in October so I am quite desperate to a) have the treatment before then, and b) be at least significantly healed, if not completely.

oh and 'laser treatment' means like the one offered here: http://www.nottinghamlaserclinic.com/lasersurgery.htm

    thanks for your help!

    • ANSWER:
I've just finished my rotation in a dermatology department in the UK, so I hope I can help. I'm not sure what you mena by "cosmetic" and "medical" . If you have any problem whatsoever and it is affecting your confidence and social behaviour, explain this to your GP and they will do their best to help you (on the NHS). Be completely honest with them, its the easiest way for you to get the right treatment for you.

You can't be referred to any dermatology clinic without going to your GP first. Discuss it with your GP, he/she will tell you all the options available to you and will suggest what is the best action to take.
Also, I'm sorry, but as your GP will be referring you to the consultant they will know the relevant bits from your medical history, however I dont think that your depression will limit your chances of surgery at all. Most patient's I have seen were being opereated on BECAUSE it effected them psychologically.
About the mole removal, yes! It is the most common procedure done in see-and-treat clinics in dermatology. You go in, they look, if they are worried about it they whip it off and you go straight home again. However I haven't seen any "cosmetic laser surgery" so I wouldn't be able to help you with that. It would be easier if you explain what it is you want- are you sure surgery is the best option for you?

  34. QUESTION:
    beauty mark removal.?
i got a beauty mark. and it bothers me quite a bit. it didn't appear until 2 weeks after i was born. its slightly raised, and i did research and im pretty sure that it is a beauty mark, not a mole. but anyway, thursday i have an appointment to go to the dermotoligist. we also want to make sure it's not cancerous because it grew since i was born(but obviously i grew so idk if that matters) and my mom wants to look to see if i can be laser removed. but i know if its too deep or connected to blood vessels that it either can't be removed, or has to be remmoved by a scaple.(sp?) so my questions are..

1.is there any signs if you can tell that it is too deep to be laser removed?
    2.does the scaple cost more?
3.is there any signs to tell if it is cancerous.

i already know that laser surgery and scalple surgery to get it removed may leave a scar. and thats a risk im willing to take because its on my leg (by my shin, outer part of leg where everyone can see) so please help, feel free to give any extra advice(: thanks!

    • ANSWER:
If it changes colour, changes from it's original shape to a wonky shape, grows a lot, basically any big change can indicate cancer.

I don't have a clue how much surgery costs (I live in Canada...I don't pay for much of my medical expenses). Usually moles and beauty spots are too deep to be laser removed. Often times they just come back.
